How Rideau Earthworks and Demolition collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
Last updated: April 15, 2026
Rideau Earthworks and Demolition (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website rideauearthdemo.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
We believe in being straightforward about what we do with your information. This policy names the specific tools we use, explains what each one collects, and tells you how to opt out if you prefer not to be tracked.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following personal information when you interact with our Site:
- Contact information you provide directly: name, email address, phone number, and any project details you share through our contact and quote forms.
- Service details: type of service requested, site address (if provided), preferred timing, and any description of the work you are asking us to quote.
- Technical data collected automatically: IP address (anonymized where possible), browser type, device type, operating system, pages visited, time spent on pages, and the website you came from. This data is collected through the analytics tools listed in Section 5.
2. How We Collect Information
- Forms and direct contact: when you submit a contact form, quote request, or email us directly, we collect the information you choose to provide.
- Phone calls: when you call the number listed on our Site, we collect the information you share during the call for the purpose of providing a quote or scheduling work.
- Automated tools: our Site uses cookies and analytics scripts to collect technical data about how visitors use the Site. See Section 5 for a full list of the tools we use and what each one collects.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and provide quotes for earthworks, demolition, and hauling services
- Schedule and coordinate on-site estimates and project work
- Communicate with you about your project (estimate confirmations, scheduling updates, follow-ups after completion)
- Understand how visitors use our Site so we can improve its content and performance
- Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations
We do not use your personal information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond what is listed here.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the limited circumstances described below:
- Service providers: trusted third parties who help us operate our Site and business (website hosting, email, analytics). These providers are only permitted to use your information to perform services for us and are subject to confidentiality obligations. The specific third-party services we use are listed in Section 5.
- Legal requirements: if required to do so by law, court order, or other valid legal process.
Cross-border data transfers. Some of the services we use are operated by companies based in the United States (specifically Vercel Inc., Google LLC, Microsoft Corporation, Resend (Drfrog Inc.), Cloudflare Inc., and Twilio Inc.). When you use our Site, technical data about your visit — and, when you submit a quote request, the contact information you provide — may be transferred to and processed in the United States. These jurisdictions may have privacy laws that differ from those in Canada. By using our Site, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed outside of Canada.
5. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking Tools
Our Site uses a small number of analytics tools to understand how visitors use it and to keep it fast and reliable. This section lists every tool we use, what it collects, and how to opt out.
Essential cookies. Our Site itself does not set any tracking cookies for advertising or profiling. The only cookies set directly by our Site are those required for basic functionality and analytics (described below).
Vercel Speed Insights. This tool measures how quickly pages load for real visitors (Core Web Vitals: largest contentful paint, cumulative layout shift, interaction-to-next-paint). It is a first-party measurement tool provided by our hosting platform, Vercel Inc. It does not set cookies, does not use persistent identifiers, and does not collect personal information. We use it solely to identify and fix performance problems.
Vercel Web Analytics. This tool counts page views and shows us which pages are most visited, which country visitors are from, and what devices they use. It is cookieless — it does not set any tracking cookies and does not create a persistent identifier for you. Visitors are counted using a daily-rotating one-way hash that cannot be used to identify individuals or track them across sites. Data is processed by Vercel Inc. in the United States. Because no persistent identifier is created, there is no individual opt-out mechanism; standard browser privacy controls (Do Not Track, tracking blockers) further limit what Vercel Analytics can see.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4). We use GA4 to understand how visitors find and use our Site (traffic sources, popular pages, user flows, and device/browser breakdowns). GA4 sets cookies named _ga and _gid that identify returning browsers and measure sessions. It collects your IP address, but we have enabled IP anonymization (anonymize_ip: true) so Google truncates your IP before any processing or storage. GA4 data is processed by Google LLC in the United States. To opt out of Google Analytics, you can install the official Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on, which prevents GA from loading in your browser across all sites that use it. You can also use a tracking-blocker browser extension, or enable “Do Not Track” in your browser settings.
Microsoft Clarity. We use Clarity to see how visitors interact with the Site through anonymized session recordings and heatmaps. This helps us identify confusing layouts or broken forms so we can fix them. Clarity sets cookies named _clck and _clsk. It records mouse movements, clicks, and scrolling, but it automatically masks form input fields and text that could contain personal information — we use Clarity’s “Balanced” masking profile, which is the standard PII-protective default. IP address masking is enabled. Clarity data is processed by Microsoft Corporation in the United States. To opt out of Microsoft Clarity, you can use a tracking-blocker browser extension, enable “Do Not Track,” or block requests to clarity.ms in your browser’s privacy settings.
Third-party processors. The companies that process information about your visit or your quote request are:
- Vercel Inc. (United States) — website hosting, Speed Insights, Web Analytics, and the serverless function that receives quote form submissions. Privacy Policy.
- Google LLC (United States) — Google Analytics 4. Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Corporation (United States) — Microsoft Clarity. Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare Inc. (United States) — Cloudflare Turnstile, an invisible bot-protection check run when you submit the quote form. Turnstile is cookieless and privacy-friendly. Privacy Policy.
- Resend (Drfrog Inc.) (United States) — transactional email delivery for quote request notifications sent from our Site to our inbox. Privacy Policy.
- Twilio Inc. (United States) — SMS notifications sent to our crew when a new quote request comes in, so we can respond quickly. Twilio receives only a short summary of the request (your name, service type, and contact method). Privacy Policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by law.
- Contact and project information is typically retained for the duration of our business relationship and for a reasonable period afterward for accounting, warranty, and follow-up purposes.
- Analytics data is retained according to each tool’s defaults: Google Analytics 4 retains event data for 14 months, Microsoft Clarity retains session data for up to 12 months, and Vercel’s analytics data is retained on a rolling one-month basis on our plan.
You can ask us to delete information we hold about you at any time (see Section 9).
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Our Site is served over HTTPS, and the third-party services we use are industry-standard providers with their own security certifications. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
You have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you
- Access a copy of that information
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Withdraw consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of your information (subject to legal or contractual restrictions — for example, we may need to retain some information to complete an ongoing project or to meet tax obligations)
- Request deletion of information we hold about you, where we are not required by law to retain it
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 12. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
9. Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)
We comply with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation. We will only send you commercial electronic messages (such as promotional emails) with your express consent, or in the course of an existing business relationship where CASL permits implied consent. Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe mechanism, and we will process your opt-out request promptly and in any event within 10 business days.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the tools we use, or legal requirements. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be communicated in a reasonable manner where practicable.
11. Children’s Privacy
Our Site and services are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.
